Title: Community Engagement Team Member
1.0 FTE Hourly/Non-exempt position
Position Summary
The Community Engagement team member is focused on building and sustaining volunteer engagement, enhancing community outreach, and supporting key programs such as Operation Sandwich. The individual in this position will play a hands-on role in recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, as well as assisting with communication and outreach efforts to strengthen the organization’s community impact. This role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a passion for community service, and a commitment to furthering the mission and values of the organization.
Specific Responsibilities and Expectations
Volunteer Engagement

Recruit Volunteers: Assist in or independently lead volunteer recruitment through outreach, social media, and community engagement efforts.

Orientation and Training: Support or facilitate the orientation and training of new volunteers, preparing them to succeed in their roles.

Scheduling and Coordination: Assist in or independently coordinate volunteer scheduling for programs such as Common Goods, Operation Sandwich, and The Bridge on 7th.

Event Support: Provide administrative support for scheduling or help with event strategy and execution, depending on experience level.

Volunteer Support and Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for volunteers, answering questions, providing updates, and ensuring they feel valued and informed.

Volunteer Recognition: Help organize or lead volunteer appreciation initiatives and events to recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions.

Feedback Gathering: Assist in gathering feedback from volunteers or lead efforts to enhance the volunteer experience.
Operation Sandwich

Form and Data Management: Assist with or manage sign-up forms for summer and school break distributions, gathering and interpreting data for program improvement.

Inventory Management: Help with or oversee grocery inventory, ensuring supplies are ordered and maintained for Operation Sandwich.

Relationship Building: Support communication with or maintain strong relationships with packing and distribution sites to facilitate seamless operations.
Communication and Outreach

Content Creation: Assist with or create press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials to increase program visibility and engagement.

Community Engagement: Engage with community groups, individuals, and businesses to raise awareness about the organization and volunteer opportunities.

Digital Communication: Use communication tools to manage volunteer and staff engagement; oversee the general mailbox, ensuring timely responses.

Social Media and Newsletter Support: Help with or lead content gathering and management for newsletters and social media platforms.
