Jill is a single mother of four kids who called Bridges of Hope (BoH) to inquire about the Thanksgiving Basket Program back in early November. Jessica, BoH Resource Specialist, helpfully explained the process to Jill and gave her all of the information she needed.
Jill and Jessica started talking about the rising cost of food and how it had been impacting Jill’s family. Jessica then asked if Jill was aware of our Operation Sandwich program and explained that we distribute food to families in need over long school breaks. Jill was unaware of the program and admitted to Jessica that she often doesn’t eat much during school breaks to make sure her kids get enough food. Jessica promptly signed Jill and her family up for the next distribution for Operation Sandwich and Jill was incredibly grateful!
When Jill came into the office to pick up her food, she was able to acquire some information about The Bridge on 7th, our overnight shelter, for a family member as well. What started as a call regarding Thanksgiving baskets turned into an even bigger blessing of food and other resources for Jill’s family. We are thankful to be able to provide services like these to those who need it in our community!
If you or someone you know are struggling with having enough food, stay tuned for information about our next Operation Sandwich distribution in March. We will post information on our Facebook and Instagram pages or you can call our office at 218-825-7682 for more information.
