Where are the homeless?

Homelessness in our community may not always be obvious

One of the most pervasive forms of homelessness in rural Minnesota is “doubling up.” An individual or family may lose their home and be living with friends or family.

Other places you may find individuals experiencing homelessness include:

  • Under bridges

  • In temporary encampments (along trail systems and/or wooded areas)

  • Doubled and tripled up in relative’s and friends’ homes

  • Walking the streets

  • In business lobbies, parks, public spaces like libraries

  • In places that offer cool in summer and warmth in winter

  • Vehicles
